With the Samsung Gear S2 smartwatch becoming one of the most popular in the world, other competitors have been racing to overtake it. One of these has been the Fitbit Blaze smartwatch, and this is how these two devices compare when they were pitted against each other.

Design

Design is where the Gear S2 has a big edge as it comes with a rotating bezel, which is not found on any other device and can be used to zoom into areas of the screen and navigate to apps. The case of the device is round and it is made from steel and there are two versions of the smartwatch, one of which is the Gear S2 Classic and the other is the Gear S2, which appeals to people who have a sporty outlook. As for colors, the Gear S2 Classic comes in black with a matching band in black leather, while there are also versions plated with rose gold and platinum that have leather straps. As for Gear S2, it has a plastic strap and comes in silver or gray to match the color of the cases. Finally, the device comes with an IP68 rating, which means it can stay immersed in water for 30 minutes.

As for the Fitbit Blaze, it has a square case in steel with sharp edges that give it a masculine look. It is available in two colors, silver and black, and its default bands are created from elastomer and come in various colors. There are also alternate bands available for the Fitbit Blaze and these are made from steel and leather, but the device does not have a waterproof rating and can only be splashed with water.

Coming to software, the Fitbit Blaze is compatible with Android, iOS, and Windows devices, while the Gear S2 runs Tizen and can be paired with Android devices.

Display

On the Gear S2 is a1.2-inch display with a resolution of 360 x 360 pixels and it has a density of 302 pixels per inch. As for the display on the Fitbit Blaze, it measures 31.75 mm and comes with a resolution of 240 x 180 pixels.

Hardware

In terms of hardware, Fitbit has not revealed what is present on the Blaze. As for the Gear S2, it comes with an Exynos 3250 processor, as for memory, it has 4 GB on board and 512 MB RAM.

Sensors

The Fitbit Blaze has a heart rate sensor, gyroscope, altimeter, and a 3-axis accelerometer. On the Gear S2 are a barometer, gyroscope, accelerometer, heart rate sensor, and ambient light sensor.

Price

The basic model of the Gear S2 costs $300, while the Fitbit Blaze starts off at $200.
