'Scandal' season 6 air date, spoilers: Fitz has not given up on Olivia

Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) may be focused on Jake Ballard (Scott Foley) nowadays, but it is imprudent to say that Fitzgerald Grant (Tony Goldwyn) is out of the running in the upcoming episode of "Scandal."
The new installment will see the outgoing president leave the White House and embrace the life of a civilian. Since he and Mellie (Bellamy Young) called it quits and Olivia ran out on him, he is officially a single man. Although he has a steamy affair with that leggy reporter, he can easily ditch her to pursue the woman he really loves.
Executive producer Betsy Beers previously told The Hollywood Reporter that Fitz would be free to do whatever he wants when he is out of office. If he wants to win back Olivia, he has no time to waste, especially now that she and Jake are closer than ever.
"When Fitz is out of office, I think he could do anything he wanted. I don't want him to move to Vermont and make jam immediately — I'm not a big fan of that — but I think he could become an advocate, a judge, a private eye or join OPA or have his own post-Scandal show where he does anything. Spinoff! Fitz could do pretty much anything as far as I'm concerned," the EP said.
In a poll conducted by Design N Trend, the fans are torn on whom to choose between Jake and Fitz. Jake's votes are a bit higher than the POTUS, but it is still a close call. When Fitz let Olivia go that fateful night, many were disappointed with him. The fact that she had to get an abortion, all alone and scared, tipped the scale towards Jake. Although Jake has a lot of hang-ups, he has always loved Olivia. His engagement was a sham, a business arrangement that he had to fulfill, but Olivia is the only one in his heart.
"Scandal" season 6 is expected to premiere midseason 2017 on ABC.
