Fans still reeling from the events of "Scandal's" midseason finale still have about a month left to process their feelings. Another thing they should also work through is the possibility that Jake Ballard might finally be over his one-sided infatuation with Olivia Pope.

The idea was broached by Scott Foley himself, who plays the ever loyal and supportive Jake, during a talk he had with TV Line. In a Q&A the actor gave to the site, he mentioned that he believes his character is finally done with Olivia (Kerry Washington).

Fans of the show have seen how Jake has been there for her, giving her his unerring support and even a shoulder to cry on whenever she would confide in him about her situation with President Fitzgerald Grant (Tony Goldwyn), this despite her knowing that Jake also has feeling for her.

But it seems that all bets are off now that the Navy intelligence officer has discovered that Olivia was the mastermind behind Rowan Pope's (Joe Morton) release from prison. Olivia's father was apparently also the one responsible for the murder of Elise (Mia Maestro), Jake's wife.

The actor admits that he has seen numerous tweets from fans who want Jake and Olivia to reconcile now that she has broken things off with the president. However, Foley believes that his character is done pining for the renowned "fixer" and revealed that he respects his character for taking a stand and calling Olivia out on all the evil things she has done.

The "Felicity" alum says he knows many viewers have also felt that Olivia has become as ruthless and manipulative as her father but no one has told her so, which was why he was proud that Jake finally called "her out on years of s**t," even though it took something like Rowan's release from jail to shake him.

Fans still shipping Olivia and Jake shouldn't worry, though, as Foley cheekily hinted that maybe Jake would change his mind after being given enough space and time.

Season 5 of "Scandal" will return to ABC in February.
