"Scorpion" fans might have to brace themselves as the show's season 2 finale might end in a cliffhanger, and one that might seal Toby's fate.

Everything that Walter O'Brien and his team of genius misfits have experienced this season has brought them to this pivotal point in time, as they go up against one of their own.

Episode 24 of "Scorpion's" second season will find Toby kidnapped by Mark Collins (Joshua Leonard), unstable genius and ex-Team Scorpion member. Collins has a long list of grievances and demands that must be met or he would kill Toby (Eddie Kaye Thomas). But can the team outwit someone who's aware of their every move, one who knows each of their weaknesses?

A teaser for the upcoming finale, titled "Toby or Not Toby," starts with Mark greeting a tied up Toby a good morning. The trailer teases that a mad genius will be going up against a team of geniuses, as Agent Cabe Gallo (Robert Patrick), Happy (Jadyn Wong), Paige (Katharine McPhee), Sylvester (Ari Stidham), and Walter (Elyes Gabel) are shown. Sylvester exclaims that Mark had become "crazier than ever," and the others apparently agree. The rest of the clip shows Mark telling Toby that he will die today, the others scrambling to save their friend, while the rest are getting shot at. The teaser ends with a tied up Toby shouting, maybe in agony.

The finale will also feature Tim Armstrong (Scott Porter) as he helps the team save their captured colleague. One scene in the finale that's guaranteed to worry fans is that of Tim talking to Happy. He tells her that he will always love her, but it seems that he's being held captive by someone.

A show ending a season with a cliffhanger is par for the course. But recent finales, like that of "The Walking Dead" and "Sleepy Hollow," have had fans up in arms over meaningless cliffhangers or unnecessary character deaths. So "Scorpion" fans are no doubt hoping their favorite show won't take the same tired route.

The season 2 finale of "Scorpion" is set to be aired on Apr. 25, 9 p.m., on CBS.
