'Scorpion' season 2 potential spoiler: the new Homeland Security boss to be played by Alana De La Garza

"Scorpion" season one ended with a sort of literal cliffhanger. Walter was saved by Caibe with a crane when he was dangling on the side of a cliff right after his car crashed through the railing Mulholland Drive. While resting in the hospital, Walter was visited by Paige, who kissed him and told him that she really cares for him. However, the main kicker here is not the possible romance between the two (although that is something to look forward to in the next season) but the fact that, there is a new boss in town.

Recent updates reveal that Homeland Security Director Merrick is going to be replaced by a new addition to the cast.

According to Deadline, Alana De La Garza is now going to be a part of the cast of "Scorpions" in season 2. De La Garza was part of the ABC drama "Forever" as Detective Jo Martinez and now, she was offered a role as the Homeland Security's new director.

As described on Deadline, De La Garza's character is "smart, tough and driven." Her motives are somehow mysterious. As mentioned by the same source, she needs the "Scorpion" team to be successful, whether if it is for the best of the team or for her own benefit.

In the season one finale, Homeland Security Director Merrick downgraded Cabe's rank and assigned him an office job at the Pomona Airport, which prompted him to quit his position. In the premiere of season two, De La Garza, the new head of Homeland Security, will offer Cabe his old position back as the liaison of the team, as explained on Deadline.

Enstarz reports that in season two, the team will also have to deal with the workplace romance, specifically with the Happy-Toby and Walter-Paige partnership.

"Scorpions" season two is set to return on CBS on September 21 at 9 p.m. ET.
