'Scorpion' season 3 spoilers, plot news: core character to be killed off?

Will the team have to choose a new leader in "Scorpion" season three?

In just a few weeks, the third season of "Scorpion" will finally premiere and ahead of the show's release date, there are already worries about a core character who will allegedly be killed off in one of the episodes.

Recent reports suggest that Elyes Gabel's Walter might be killed in an action-packed episode and the team will be forced to move forward with their missions without him. Walter is a main character who is obviously loved and treasured by "Scorpion" followers. If the showrunners decide to take him out at this point in the story, it may not be a good idea, considering that his romantic storyline with Paige (Katharine McPhee) is just starting to unfold.

If Walter passes away, who will take over the leadership? Who will be worthy enough to step up to the plate? Only the new episodes will be able to tell.

Probably one of the most anticipated arcs in "Scorpion" season three is the expected peeling of Walter's true feelings for Paige. Rumor has it that Walter will try to be honest about how he feels and he will let Paige know. However, some personal and professional issues will purportedly come in between the two, causing their blooming romance to fall short.

Adding to the alleged romantic issues that the pair will face, is the question of whether Walter will really be killed, or if he will just disappear but not die. The latter is a more preferable speculation since it would still give him the chance to properly confess his love for Paige.

Meanwhile, fans are also looking forward to how Happy (Jadyn Wong) and Toby (Eddie Kaye Thomas) will now face each other following the devastating events in the previous installment. It is expected that the pair will struggle even more in "Scorpion" season three as the identity of Happy's husband will finally be disclosed.

"Scorpion" season three premieres Oct. 3 on CBS.
