There is no denying that the "Scream" Halloween special was one of the most heart-stomping episodes featured on MTV's "Scream" TV series for the past two seasons. As the said special featured the season 2 revealed killer, Kieran's (Amadeus Serafini) death in the hands of a masked killer lurking at the top of his cell, it goes without saying that the upcoming season 3 of the series will have a new killer, and it may be the real Brandon James.

When "Scream" season 2 aired its final episode last August, it was revealed that Kieran was actually the one responsible for the killing spree. However, while he was in prison, Kieran received a phone call from an unknown caller who reprimanded him for wearing the mask that the caller alleged to be originally his. As everybody knows that the original owner of the mask is Brandon James, who wears the iconic mask because of his disfigured face, a lot of the fans thought that the character would finally be revealed in the then upcoming Halloween special.

However, as the Halloween special did not focus on the return of Brandon James, it is speculated that MTV will finally make it happen on the series' upcoming third season. Before "Scream's" Halloween special ended, though, it showed Emma's dad, Kevin Duval (Tom Everett Scott), standing over Kieran's grave. This led some people into suspecting that Kevin Duval may have been the one responsible for killing Kieran and may be the real killer after all. Nonetheless, as the Halloween special also teased a certain "Mr. James" checking into a motel in Lakewood, it seems that "Scream" season 3 is, indeed, finally featuring Brandon James.

There's a catch though: The certain "Mr. James" the Halloween special teased does not seem to be wearing the iconic mask of Brandon James, although viewers never really got the chance to see how he looks like.

Is "Scream" season 3 really ushering in Brandon James? Is Brandon James the same Mr. James who checked into the motel on the series' Halloween special?
