'Scream' season 3 rumors: Series to finally reveal the real killer; upcoming season to be the last?

MTV has yet to announce as to when it will air "Scream" season 3, but it is already speculated that the upcoming season of the thriller series will reveal who the real killer is.
The season 2 finale of "Scream" revealed that Kieran (Amadeus Serafini) was actually the killer. However, when Kieran was already in prison before the end of the finale episode, he received a phone call from an unidentified caller who reprimanded him for wearing the mask that the incognito person on the other end of the line claimed to be his.
Although "Scream" has yet to feature its own version of the legit owner of the mask, it is a known fact that it belongs to Brandon James in the movies. Hence, it is now suspected that "Scream" season 3 will finally feature its own version of Brandon James in its upcoming season, much more that Kieran was killed by a masked killer in his prison cell in the "Scream Halloween Special" in October.
Suspicions on "Scream" season 3 finally introducing its own version of Brandon James have also been bolstered by a scene from "Scream Halloween Special" where a certain Mr. James checked in at Lakewood Hotel. Nonetheless, it remains uncertain if the said Mr. James is actually Brandon as the face of the said character was not shown. Some even suspect that it can be Emma's (Willa Fitzgerald) father, Kevin Duval (Tom Everett Scott), who may be posing as Brandon James. Since Kevin Duval even visited Kieran in his grave, some suspect that he may be the real killer and hides behind the identity of Brandon James.
Meanwhile, it is speculated that "Scream" season 3 will be the last for the series as it has been learned that it will only offer six episodes when it returns. In fact, prior to the announcement of the series' third season, it was already suspected that the then-upcoming "Scream Halloween Special" would tie the loose ends the season 2 finale left, and that there would be no season 3 because of the poor performance of the show in terms of ratings.
