'Sense8' season 2 latest updates: Will Netflix renew the show for its third season?

Rumors are rife that Netflix is gearing up for a possible "Sense8" season 3 after reports revealed that the network reached out to lead cast members in the show for a contract renewal. Half of the eight lead characters have reportedly closed deals with Netflix while the remaining half are still negotiating their contracts.
There is still no confirmation from Netflix regarding this report, but "Sense8" insiders revealed that the network is confident all eight characters will remain for a possible third season, according to Deadline. The eight lead characters are made up of Toby Onwumere as Capheus, Jamie Clayton as Nomi Marks, Tina Desai as Kala Dandekar, Doona Bae as Sun, Max Riemelt as Wolfgang, Tuppence Middleton as Riley, Brian J. Smith as Will Gorski, and Miguel Ángel Silvestre as Lito Rodriguez.
Actor Brian J. Smith previously stated that he hopes a season 3 will materialize as there are still so many stories to tell in the show that centrally revolves around eight people who share a unique psychic connection.
"I think we'll all know whether or not we should do a third season," Smith told Digital Spy. "I hope we do. I can say there's definitely more story to tell after season two. We're not done with it and I hope we get to finish it, I really do," he added.
The show has been haunted by cancellation rumors since last year when series executives started to have problems with one of their lead cast members, Aml Ameen. Ameen's character had to be eventually recast so that the production for season 2 can proceed.
Co-creator Lilly Wachowski took an unexpected break from writing, directing, and producing the show. She left the rest of production to her able sister, Lana. Lana continues to work closely with Michael Straczynski in advancing the show in the absence of her sister.
"Sense8" season 2 is slated to premiere on May 5 on Netflix.
