The release of the second season of "Sense8" has yet to be announced, but the Netflix sci-fi series is already in production and fans are treated to set photos provided by writers and sisters Lilly Wachowski and Lana Wachowski via the show's Tumblr account.

From the looks of the set photos, the Sensates – eight strangers who are emotionally and mentally linked to each other – will experience more drama and action in the upcoming season 2. In one of the photos, it showed the main characters celebrating their birthdays. This, along with a photo of a snowball fight, shows happy times.

On the other hand, one of the pictures also showed Lito, played by Miguel Ángel Silvestre, drenched in blood, with a knife in his hand while standing next to another bloody person on the bed. Sun Bak (Doona Bae) appears to be fighting for her life as three men are somewhat torturing her. Will (Brian J. Smith) was also seen inside some sort of an interrogation room with Mr, Whispers (Terrence Man).

It looks like there's going to be more trouble for the major characters in season 2. It also remains to be seen when fans will be able to sit down and stream all-new episodes on Netflix, but according to a Twitter post from Jamie Clayton, who plays transwoman Nomi Marks in the series, the new season will be released worldwide by Christmas.

In a follow-up post, Clayton mentioned that the first episode will premiere by Christmas and that the rest of the episodes will continue streaming in 2017. This still has to be taken with a pinch of salt though since Netflix might set a different date, but if it turns out to be true, fans will get an exciting Christmas treat in the form of a cliffhanger season 2 premiere.

Netflix has yet to comment on the release date, but it appears that another cast member, Daryl Hannah, also confirmed via Instagram last March that the premiere will be a Christmas special for the series.
