Onion may play a much larger role in the upcoming episode of "Steven Universe." After expressing his thanks to Steven for spending time with his friends, Onion and his storyline is expected to be continuously explored in the cartoon series.

Last episode, Steven met Onion's peculiar friends. Onion had invited Steven to come with him after they spent time bonding on the couch. He brought Steven to the woods, where four figures wearing masks suddenly appeared. Onion introduced them as Squash, Pinto, Soup and Garbanzo. They were all mutes. Although Steven was surprised at first, he understood why Onion was a bit distant from him and the other members of Crystal Gems. Onion seemed dedicated to his friends and was genuinely heartbroken that they had to go since spring was ending.

Squash, Pinto, Soup and Garbanzo all had to return home before the season changed. Onion cried when they bid farewell and Steven did his best to comfort him. He told Onion that although his friends would not be around, he still had him and the Crystal Gems to play with all year round. Onion then hugged Steven and it looked like a tight friendship has been formed. Steven may even become the bridge that will help Onion connect with the rest of the characters. It has been hinted that the Crystal Gems find it hard to get along with Onion because he seemed cold.

Meanwhile, spoilers for episode 8 claim that "Gem Harvest" will have something to do with main characters harvesting Peridot and Jasper. The title is allegedly a clue to what is going to happen. Harvesting gems is said to be a process of acquiring corrupted or shattered stones.

Cartoon Network has been making sure that no leaks will be released about the new episodes after what happened last time. Although the lineup of episodes has been previously released, the network surprised the fans by switching them up at the last minute. "Gem Harvest" was supposed to be aired Sept. 8.

Cartoon Network has yet to announce the release date for "Gem Harvest."
