'Super Smash Bros. 4' DLC: Lucas lands June 14; Creator Masahiro Sakurai to make special announcement on same day

The newest addition to Nintendo's crossover fighting game, "Super Smash Bros. 4" has been revealed. According to a recent tweet by Nintendo America, the latest character to be added to the game's roster is Lucas, from the 2006 Game Boy Advance game "Mother 3." The new character will be available as downloadable content (DLC) starting June 14.
Lucas is the second "Mother" character to come to "Super Smash Bros. 4," with the first being Ness. He is also the second downloadable character in the game after Mewtwo. According to Master Herald, Lucas is likely to be entered into the game via a software update similar to the Mewtwo release earlier this year.
Nintendo had also announced that "Smash Bros." creator Masahiro Sakurai will host a video presentation about the game on June 14, the same day of Lucas' release. No additional details are available about the scheduled presentation, but iDigitalTimes speculates that Sakurai is likely to reveal details about the Lucas DLC and how the upgrade could affect the game.
Sakurai could also reveal details about the ongoing Fighter Ballot where fans vote for characters they want to see in the game. Other speculations point to possible third-party characters like Roy and Ryu as future DLC additions for the game.
The "Super Smash Bros." series features many characters from Nintendo's most popular franchises, including Mario, Fox, Link, Kirby, Samus Aran and Pikachu. The original "Super Smash Bros." had 12 playable characters, which has increased to 51 in the latest installment. The games also feature non-playable Nintendo characters, like Ridley and Petey Piranha, and third-party characters such as Solid Snake, Sonic the Hedgehog, Mega Man and Pac-Man.
The "Super Smash Bros. 4" fighter ballot is still under progress for the game's next DLC. Be sure to catch Sakurai's announcement on June 14 at 7:40 a.m. PT for further details.
