'Supergirl' spoilers: Lucy Lane, Maxwell Lord arrives in episode 3; Reactron seeks revenge

(CBS Press Room)Kara Danvers (Melissa Benoist) meets Lucy Lane (Jena Dewan-Tatum), James Olsen's (Mehcad Brooks) ex-girlfriend in "Supergirl" episode three titled "Fight or Flight"

Months before "Supergirl" premiered on CBS, casting update was already filled with buzz that Lucy Lane will be played by Jenna Dewan-Tatum. Now she's all set for her first appearance in the show. But that's not all Supergirl has to face in the coming episode.

Lucy Lane first arrives in "Supergirl" in the upcoming third episode of the show's freshman season. As previously reported, the episode — in fact, the show as a whole — will explore the past relationship between Lucy and James Olsen (Mehcad Brooks), or Jimmy as he was still known to Lois Lane's younger sister. This puts an obvious peg between whatever budding romance there is between Kara Danvers a.k.a. Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) and CatCo's newest Art Director.

But "Supergirl" is not just romance drama; hence, the third episode will also see television's newest superhero tackling some baddies, one of which was her cousin's former foe. Ben Krull a.k.a. Reactron (Chris Browning) arrives in National City, with the mindset that the best way to take revenge on Superman is through his cousin.

As if Supergirl does not have enough on her plate already — a romantic foil AND a new supervillain! — the season's big baddie also lands in town. Maxwell Lord (Peter Facinelli) makes his debut in the CBS show and it will be some kind of exciting. Especially since he will have opposing opinions with Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart) about Supergirl.

Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg tells Entertainment Weekly, "[Maxwell Lord and Cat Grant] are two of the most powerful people in the city, so there will always be a tête-à-tête, a little sexual chemistry between them. They have some fun scenes together in episode 3."

But as they say, when it rains, it pours. Kara Danvers will also have to go through a "Supergirl exposé" via a Supergirl-themed party thrown by her very boss, Cat Grant.

Watch all these happen on third "Supergirl" episode, titled "Fight or Flight." New episodes air on CBS every Monday, 9 p.m.
