'Supernatural' season 11 spoilers, plot news: Padalecki may return to show; no official confirmation of cast and release date yet

After 10 seasons, "Supernatural" has still left the audience wanting more. The season finale of "Supernatural" aired on May 20, leaving fans in awe of the shocking twist that the show held out until the end of the episode.

The last episode entitled "Brother's Keeper" saw more small-scale dynamics between the brothers. The conflict, which is centered on the "Mark of Cain", and Death is a refreshing change from previous seasons' seemingly formulaic end-of-the-world plotlines.

Dean Winchester, who is forced to battle the evil urges which the "Mark of Cain" has cursed him to act on, had to make a deal with Death to send him far away where he cannot hurt anyone in exchange for Sam's life. Audiences were convinced that Dean held enough grudge with Sam for Charlie's death and that he could and would take his brother's life. However, in an awe-inducing twist, the older Winchester brother swung the reaper on Death himself.

This scene alone sets an exciting tone for season 11. With the upcoming series already in production, there are various speculations about its specifics. One thing is confirmed, though, as according to Mark Pedowitz, The CW's president, the upcoming season will not be the show's last.

"I'm a big believer and a big fan of the show, and as long as the ratings hold and as long as the boys want to do it, we'll do it," said Pedowitz.

There were concerns, however, about whether or not the cast would be willing to continue on the show, with the focus being on Jared Padalecki. His recent loaded tweet about not being able to attend the show's promotion in JibCon in Italy was alarming, to say the least. The star tweeted:

"Dear #JIBCON and #AHBL6. I am in desperate and urgent need of my family. I am so sorry to tell you this but I must head home," then followed it up with, "I need all of the love I can get right now. Please please give me a few seconds of your time and write me. #AlwaysKeepFighting."

It is common knowledge among the show's fanbase that Padalecki had battled depression in the past. The vague tweet that he sent out further fueled rumors that he might not be well and would probably not come back.

There haven't been any confirmations regarding either the release date or the cast of season 11 of "Supernatural". Padalecki, however, seems to be feeling better after the tweet he sent out and has thanked fans for their support.
