'Survivor: Cambodia – Second Chance' episode 8 spoilers: competition heating up; Jeff Probst discusses twists

Stakes are now higher on "Survivor: Cambodia – Second Chance" after host Jeff Probst declared that the remaining contestants have merged. Given that this season is all about second chances, the contestants have been aggressive and competitive in their gameplay – each hoping to correct mistakes of the past.

"'Survivor' is such a tricky thing because you are thrown into extreme conflict from day 1 and you can't afford to just sit back and 'surf' the moments and be your best self. This game forces you to take action, and taking that action often brings forth parts of your humanity that you aren't always proud of," Probst told Entertainment Weekly.

In the previous episode, Probst surprised the contestants by announcing that they have merged with still so many people left in the game. Not only is it the first time to have merged with 13 contestants but it also means that this season will have the largest number of jury members. "Chaos Kass" was voted out and will be the first member of the jury.

"Everybody worked so hard to get these people back out on the island and we anticipated the game being played very hard, so it made sense to let as many as possible have a say in who ultimately wins the game," Probst added.

In next Wednesday's "You Call, We'll Haul" episode, the remaining contestants are grouped into two teams for the reward challenge. Based on promo images, the contestants will need to paddle a boat to collect four big wooden crates. The first team consists of Spencer, Abi, Tasha, Stephen, Savage and Jeremy while the other team has Joe, Wenthworth, Ciera, Keith, Kimmi and Wiglesworth.

For the muddy immunity challenge, contestants will have to use two ropes to balance a ping-pong ball on a board and they must do so from a distance. After winning the first individual immunity, will Joe be able to win again?

Meanwhile, back in camp, everyone is worried about big moves. In the promo footage, Savage and Wiglesworth are seen discussing the issue while Stephen says, "It's time to do something here. It's time to go for someone who's a real threat to win this game."

"Survivor: Cambodia – Second Chance" airs every Wednesday at p.m. ET on CBS.
