In the final moments of "Switched at Birth" season four, Bay and Daphne decided to travel to China for a vacation. Fast forward to 10 months later, the two have decided to set down roots in the foreign country, with them holding down jobs and starting to learn the language. However, in a cliffhanger, Bay and Daphne received an urgent phone call asking them to come home.

Unfortunately, viewers will still have to wait a bit longer before having the cliffhanger resolved. "Switched at Birth" season five is scheduled to premiere this April.

With only a few months to go before the premiere, the cast and crew of "Switched at Birth" are already hard at work. Creator and executive producer Lizzy Weiss tweeted a picture taken during filming and captioned it with "We are back. First day of filming #SwitchedatBirth Season 5."

Weiss has also revealed the episode titles for the first four episodes - "The Call," "This Has to Do with Me," "Surprise" and "Relation of Lines and Colors."

Given how season four ended, the first episode seems aptly titled. While specific story details have yet to be revealed, it can be surmised that the premiere episode will provide some backstory to the mysterious phone call that Bay and Daphne received.

"All will be revealed. There's a lot of stuff that we're talking about, and whenever we're back on, you'll get your answers," Weiss told TV Line.

Aside from Bay and Daphne's storyline, season five will also focus on Toby and Lily as they deal with being first-time parents to baby boy Carlton. It is also being speculated that season five may delve deeper into John and Kathryn Kennish's marital troubles.

Season five of "Switched at Birth" is scheduled to premiere this April 2016 on Freeform, formerly known as ABC Family. No official release date has been announced. Stay tuned for the latest news and updates.
