"Switched at Birth" show executives are introducing new faces in season 5 which is also known as the series' final airing on Freeform. New cast members include Valery Ortiz as Noelle, Tristin Mays from "The Vampire Diaries" as Ally, and Michael Galante as Luca.

Noelle is a well-known tattoo artist whose reputation attracts Bay (Vanessa Marano) enough to want to work closely with her. It is unclear, however, if Noelle will have a good impact on Bay's life. Quite possibly, she might end up as a negative influence on her.

Another exciting addition to the show's characters is Luca who is expected to spice up the storylines with a bit of romance. But Luca will not be attracted to Bay or Daphne (Katie Leclerc). Surprisingly, he will go after Regina (Constance Marie) who is many years his senior. In one of the season's promos, Regina is seen kissing Luca. Fans have yet to find out if the kissing scene is indicative of Regina agreeing to Luca's proposal of giving their potential relationship a shot despite the odds.

Mays, on the other hand, will make her appearance on episode 6. Little is known about her character and how her life will weave into that of Bay and Daphne, but she is said to share a special connection with Regina. Sources suggest that her bond with Regina might come from an even deeper origin as she seems to have a connection with the Kennish and Vasquez family.

Meanwhile, one of the most exciting developments in Bay's life happened in the season premiered when she chose Travis (Ryan Lane) over Emmett (Sean Berdy) when the latter made an effort to visit her in China. Executive producer Lizzy Weiss told TV Line the reason why the show decided to let Bay take that direction.

"Bay and Emmett have been through so much and so many ups and downs, and they may end up together in the long run, but for right now... that's put to bed a little bit," Weiss revealed.

"And Travis is this incredible guy, whom she's become very close to, and they've shared a lot. She needed to give him a try. And we were excited about a fresh relationship. We love how it turned out. They get to have great fights, though, about everything, including Emmett. He's a little bit of a shadow in their relationship in the beginning, and we deal with that later," she added.

"Switched at Birth" season 5 returns with a new episode on Tuesday, Feb. 7, 9 p.m. EDT on Freeform.
