'Teen Wolf' season 5 spoilers: Lydia pivotal to overcoming the Beast of Gevaudan; what role for Gerard?

The second half of "Teen Wolf" season 5 is proving to be a busy one for Scott and his pack as they scramble for a way to defeat the Beast of Gevaudan. While forging an alliance with Theo's pack might help improve their chances of bringing down a common enemy, someone else might be the key to defeating the Beast.
As Alpha and one of the show's main protagonist, viewers are looking at Scott (Tyler Posey) to be the one to defeat the Beast. But "Teen Wolf's executive producer Jeff Davis has hinted that Lydia (Holland Roden) might be the heroine this time.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Davis revealed that Lydia will play a key role this season. The showrunner also added that there will be a point in the season where one of the characters will admit that the banshee "might be the one who can save us all."
The idea is not farfetched; Dr. Valack (Steven Brand) had previously explained that if harnessed properly, Lydia can actually shatter someone's skull with her voice. The character will actually have her day (or two) as it's been revealed that there will be two Lydia-centric episodes coming up – episodes 15 and 16.
Lydia's moment is still several weeks away as "Teen Wolf" is still focused on Scott's journey to repair some badly damaged relationships. Davis even enumerated to EW what Scott will be doing. Apparently, much of episodes 11 and 12 will revolve around Scott and Stiles (Dylan O'Brien) reconciliation and the rebuilding of their friendship. Episode 13 will be the duo's efforts to get Kira (Arden Cho) back from her sojourn into the desert. Episode 14 will be about getting Malia (Shelley Hennig) back into the pack. Interestingly, Scott will apparently have realized at this point that he also has to find a way to forgive Liam (Dylan Sprayberry) and repair their friendship, which won't be easy considering that Liam tried to kill him.
There's also the question of what role Gerard Argent (Michael Hogan) will play against the Beast. As a Hypable article pointed out, a previous episode showed the old hunter being cured with yellow wolfsbane and the Argent patriarch will undoubtedly want to bring down the Beast himself as a way of redeeming his family's legacy. But will he be a help or a hindrance to Scott and his pack?
A new episode of "Teen Wolf" season 5 will be aired on Jan. 26.
