"Teen Wolf" ended the first half of season 5 with Scott and his pack in grave danger. But even with the Alpha Wolf resurrected by Melissa, viewers will see that the show's second half will remain an uphill battle for the residents of Beacon Hills.

In the midseason finale of the supernatural drama, Theo (Cody Christian) attacked Sheriff Stilinski (Linden Ashby) and afterwards informed Stiles (Dylan O'Brien) about the deed. He also told Stiles that if he agrees not to aid Scott (Tyler Perry), he would reveal where he could find his father. As expected, Stiles accepted Theo's terms and consequently found his father in bad shape inside an abandoned residence. But it seems that not all the injuries the sheriff sustained came from Theo's attack.

When "Teen Wolf's" fifth season resumes, the sheriff's fate hangs in the balance as a "mysterious infection" is found to be affecting the law man. According to episode 11's very brief synopsis, Stiles and Scott will put their differences aside as they try to discover what kind of infection is killing the town's sheriff.

A new teaser trailer has also been released for the upcoming midseason premiere of "Teen Wolf" season 5, titled "The Last Chimera." The clip starts with someone emerging from a tub, all covered in black, tar-like substance. This is followed by various seemingly unrelated scenes of Scott's group, someone rising from sand, a Dread Doctor swinging a sword, Scott apparently in pain, gnashing his teeth. The clip ends with a female voice saying "they're all going to die."

Exactly who is in danger of dying is not revealed but fans will undoubtedly think of several people. Aside from the sheriff, Lydia (Holland Roden) and Malia (Shelley Hennig) were also in danger in episode 10. Fans might be able to know more in the upcoming six-minute trailer for "Teen Wolf" that MTV will reportedly unveil at midnight on Dec. 31.

Season 5 of "Teen Wolf" will be back on Jan. 5.
