'The Affair' season 3 spoilers: Noah is haunted by the struggles of his past in premiere episode

(Facebook/The Affair)“The Affair” season 3 premieres on Sunday, Nov. 20, at 10 p.m. EST on Showtime.

Noah (Dominic West) tries to deal with his past and present life in the upcoming new season 3 of Showtime's psychological drama "The Affair."

According to reports, the upcoming season premiere episode will see the recent hurdles that Noah had to overcome and keep haunting him. He continues to struggle in navigating the issues of his old life, while he tries to live a new one. Even though there is a budding romance in the future, it would not be enough for him to overcome his sense of dread. Also, someone in the past is watching him.

"The Affair" dropped a season 3 promo trailer early this month. It shows three years after Alison's (Ruth Wilson) secret was exposed. Despite all the legal battles he had to go through, Noah wants to completely sever ties with Alison. She is left alone because her daughter is now in the custody of her biological father, Cole (Joshua Jackson), and his new wife, Luisa (Catalina Sandino Moreno).

It seems like Alison wants to win back Cole as she is shown visiting her daughter more often than before. Luisa dislikes it as she suspects that Alison has some vested interest in her visits.

"We're always asking ourselves, What is love? Is love a product of time and place and circumstance? Or is love something true that can't be undone," creator Sarah Treem told Entertainment Weekly on what's in store in the upcoming season. "This season we kind of tried to answer those questions."

In a separate EW report, actress Maura Tierney teases about her character Helen in season 3. Since season 3 happens three years later, she said everyone has moved on a bit. Helen is expected to be in a relationship and so is Noah.

"The Affair" season 3 premieres on Nov. 20, Sunday, at 10 p.m. EST on Showtime.
