'The Flash' season 2 update: Barry Allen gets a new costume

DC's resident speedster is getting a costume upgrade, albeit a minor one, in season two of the CW series "The Flash." And many have already noted how the new look is more loyal to the comics version.

The CW has released a new photo of Barry Allen aka The Flash (Grant Gustin) in his brand-spanking new costume. There really are no major changes; the most noticeable one being the white circle that bears the lightning bolt, which is "The Flash" logo.

The season one costume had a red background and was designed by Colleen Atwood. The season two costume revamp, announced by the network via FB with a caption "NEW SUIT, NEW SEASON!" was created by designer Maya Mani.

Den of Geek noted that this "new" costume is more comic book-accurate and makes the lightning bolt more prominent. They also pointed out the irony that just when the TV series has adapted the comic book look, the comic book has also switched to using a red logo to look more like what Gustin wears in the show.

Comicbook.com also said that viewers of the show already had a preview of this new costume during the show's pilot episode and when Cisco Ramon (Carlos Valdes), who created Barry's The Flash outfit, saw a newspaper clip from the future showing what The Flash is wearing.

The superhero series will return with an episode titled "The Man Who Saved Central City," which many assume to be The Flash, but can also be any other character given the rumors regarding new cast members joining the second season.

Speaking of new cast members, it has been confirmed that Barry Allen will have a new ally, Jay Garrick (Teddy Sears) and love interest, Patty Pivot (Shantel Van Santen).

"The Flash" season two speeds its way into the small screen this Oct. 6 at 8 p.m.
