President Jeffrey Michener's (Mark Moses) death will resound in all corners of the fear-driven world in the upcoming episode of "The Last Ship."

In the episode titled "Sea Change," Spoiler TV reports that the United States will deal with a tragedy, which may be pertaining to the death of its leader. The Americans' commander-in-chief committed suicide last episode. The guilt he had been feeling over the many deaths of his fellow Americans consumed him and it proved to be too much. Michener admitted to the public that he blamed himself for the spreading of the virus to his people. He brought back his son, who was already infected, with him when he returned to St. Louis. The epidemic then quickly spread and a lot of people succumbed.

After taking a call from Captain Tom Chandler (Eric Dane) that he was on his way home with the prisoner, Michener gave orders to be left alone. When his aid went to check on him, he was already dead.

Showrunner Hank Steinberg previously told Buddy TV that no one would be safe in season 3. He teased that there would be deaths along the way, with some truly shocking and unexpected. This unpredictability is reportedly what makes the show interesting throughout the seasons.

"It's a dangerous world out there. The way we keep the audience on their toes, we have to lose people along the way to feel like every time they go out there, you don't know what could happen. We've had to lose some of our favorite characters and favorite actors in the process, but it's what keeps the show appealing and feeling real," Steinberg said.

Meanwhile, the synopsis also reveals that Chandler and his men in the USS Nathan James will follow the trail pointing to a possible virus mutation. Last episode, he and his crew succeeded in saving XO Mike Slattery (Adam Baldwin) and the others. They also brought with them Takehaya (Hiroyuki Sanada) so that his crimes would be tried in the US. Surprisingly, the pirate proved to be a godsend when he helped them escape the sea minefield and put as much distance from the pursuing Chinese fleet.

"The Last Ship" season 3 airs Sundays at 9 p.m. EST on TNT.
