'The Last Ship' season 4 spoilers: How will Sasha fare without Chandler?

(Facebook/TheLastShipTNT)Sasha continues working for the Navy in the next season of "The Last Ship."

Sasha Cooper (Bridget Regan) will be just fine working in the USS Nathan James without Tom Chandler (Eric Dane) in the upcoming season of "The Last Ship."

As seen in the promo released by TNT, the intel officer will continue assisting the Navy in its future missions to save humanity. Sasha has decided to stay, even though her boyfriend has already submitted his resignation letter to the board. Chandler wanted to take some time off from his work after the harrowing ordeal he experienced in last season's finale. He lost his father and a dear friend, and even if he did not want to admit it, he had had enough of being the man who saved the world.

Many fans rooted for Chandler's romance with Sasha. After his wife died, he did not go on dates. When the beautiful intel officer was first introduced to the captain, the viewers could immediately feel the spark between them. Sasha was the perfect fit for Chandler and they also worked exceptionally well together.

In a past interview, Dane talked about Sasha as Darien's (Tracy Middendorf) replacement. Chandler's deceased wife succumbed to the virus before he could get the cure to her.

"I've always sorta seen Chandler by himself in a cabin in the woods with his kids, chopping wood. But I think it's time. The passing of his wife Darien has run its course. I don't think [romance is] the first thing on his mind, but if it presents itself, I think he would entertain it," Danes said in a previous interview with TVLine

Meanwhile, Sasha is poised to work with Mike Slattery (Adam Baldwin) and a British officer who will arrive in the USS Nathan James to perform a specific mission. According to spoilers, James Fletcher (Jonathan Howard) of the MI6 and the British Royal Navy will team up with the Americans in searching for stolen gears needed to ensure humanity's survival in the second holocaust.

"The Last Ship" season 4 is expected to start airing in 2017.
