'The Vampire Diaries' season 6 spoilers: Jolaric tie the knot, Kai is back but questions remain as to how Nina Dobrev will exit show

"The Vampire Diaries" broke many hearts when it was announced that lead star Nina Dobrev, who essays Elena's role, will be leaving the show. Hot on the heels of this announcement came speculations on how her character will leave the show. Does Elena die? Does she take the cure and live a human life elsewhere? And most importantly, will the vampire heretics escape their 1903 prison world with Kai?
As episode six continues, expect considerable drama around Jo and Alaric's wedding. Episode 20 airing on Thursday will see the engaged pair reluctantly participating in their bachelor parties, reports TVGuide. Elena will seek Bonnie's advice regarding taking the cure to vampirism while Enzo asks for Stephan's help in dealing with Lily. Last episode mama Salvatore was clearly on a downward spiral. Matt puts his frustration of supernatural threats onto Tyler.
Although wedding bells toll in "The Vampire Diaries", nothing ever goes smoothly on the show. Expect bloodshed before Jo and Alaric exchange vows and more Delena drama. As per TVLine, Elena and Damon do take the cure together but it results in a massive fallout. This fallout not only affects the romantic pair but everyone on the show. Speculations indicate Elena's death after she consumes the cure. Veteran viewers should keep a box of tissues handy for the next few episodes.
But what about Stephan and Caroline? Executive producer Caroline Dries revealed to TVGuide that Caroline is dealing with a lot of guilt and shame now that she's back to her humane self. She explained, "When she's in the murk of that guilt and remorse, a real relationship with Stefan won't feel possible". Steroline fans will have to wait a bit longer.
Kai and his band of heretic vampires will escape the 1903 prison world. The finale will see Kai seeking revenge on Bonnie and Lily going to great lengths to reunite with her family.
"The Vampire Diaries" airs on Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET on CW.
