'The Vampire Diaries' season 8 spoilers: Damon and Enzo's evil remains unnamed

The finale season 7 of "The Vampire Diaries" showed Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Enzo (Michael Malarkey) possessed, and it seems the evil that attacked them will remain unknown.
The last scene showed them hanging their victims upside down, suggesting that saving them would be the plot for next season's run. However, an interview with executive producer Julie Plec suggests there is so much more to season 8's plot than what the scene gave away.
When asked what the evil force's name is, Plec told TV Line they are not telling people yet so the audience have to wait until the next season airs. She said, "It's funny, this is the first time we've done this little story trick where we actually withholding the identity and mythology of the new villain from the audience before the next season." She added, "There's a nice mystery talking us into the next season about what exactly this creature is."
Bonnie (Kat Graham) has been warned about the monster inside the Armory during a conversation with Virginia (Aisha Duran). She was told that whatever is inside should never be freed, and while Bonnie knew there could be something really dangerous inside, she was forced to open the vault during a fight to save her friends. She successfully locked the Armory without letting the evil out. Unfortunately, when it was her time to be saved, the vault had to be opened.
The mystery behind the vault has yet to be solved, but season 7 has revealed it has a lot to do with Enzo's family. Similar to what happened to Damon and Enzo, the vault once made a serial killer out of Enzo's family member. Like Elena's (Nina Dobrev) voice calling Damon, a loved one's voice that seemingly calls from the vault was what pushed Alex (Mouzam Makkar) to seek Bonnie to open the vault. Only witches belonging to Bonnie's family's bloodline are capable of opening the vault.
Other developments viewers of the show look forward to is the relationship of Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Caroline (Candice King) who recently reconciled. The supernatural story of love, mystery, and friendship continues when "The Vampire Diaries" premieres in the fall on The CW network.
