'The Winds of Winter' spoiler: If Wall comes down, Others may pose bigger threat

George R.R. Martin is yet to pin a release date for "Winds of Winter" but the end of the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series is already getting some attention from fans. Following the author's revelation that the epic fantasy series is getting a bittersweet ending, speculation from fans is that soon — maybe even "Winds of Winter" soon — the Wall is going to fall.
Westeros has been kept safe for 8000 years because of The Wall, painstakingly maintained by the brotherhood of the Night's Watch. But the fictional world of Westeros just might face the dangers of things and creatures beyond The Wall in the sixth book of the "A Song of Ice and Fire" and in the sixth season of HBO's "Game of Thrones." iDigitalTimes predicts that The Wall will come down by the sixth book and sixth season.
Martin has started shifting focus by the fifth book of "A Song of Ice and Fire." From politics and personal relationships, the 66-year-old fiction writer focused on more epic fantasy elements with "A Dance with Dragons." It can be safely assumed then that moving forward, the series will focus on those same elements.
Besides, The Others aka The White Walkers have always posed a threat to Westeros. And the series cannot properly move forward if these antagonists don't make a more pronounced appearance. And what's the best way to make them more pronounced but by breaking down the Wall and making the danger more urgent?
The fifth season of "Game of Thrones" predicted as much. The season-ender battle at Hardhome was not in the books but its appearance in the TV series says that the book might follow through with a stronger, bigger force for the Others. Their forthcoming might signal the fall of the Wall and Daenery's dragons might come and save Westeros. She might prove victorious but a demise will go along with Martin's previous announcement of a bittersweet "A Song of Ice and Fire" ending.
These details, however, remain a speculation at the moment. Martin and HBO have both kept the plot of the series under tight wraps. Stay tuned for further updates.
