'The Vampire Diaries': Nina Dobrev regrets leaving the show

(CW/Facebook)Nina Dobrev regrets her decision to leave The Vampire Diaries

The season finale of "The Vampire Diaries" marked the last episode for Elena Gilbert's character as Nina Dobrev had confirmed her departure from the show earlier this year. While the decision was entirely Dobrev's, there are reports that the actress is since regretting her decision.

The actress maintains that the reason she left the show after season six was because she felt that her character's journey should end with the end of the sixth season. In her goodbye message to her fans, the actress said:

"I always knew I wanted Elena's story to be a six season adventure, and within those six years I got the journey of a lifetime."

There are rumors that Nina Dobrev left the show because her co-star and former boyfriend, Ian Somerhalder has recently married his girlfriend of less than a year, Nikki Reed. Speculations also claim that their working relationship had been affected because of their break up with Ian quickly moving on and Dobrev finding herself in an awkward position, prompting her to leave.

These reports where quickly rubbished by the former Degrassi star, who claimed that she was happy and had no problem with Ian and Nikki tying the knot.

But rumors of Dobrev regretting her decision to leave the show persist, with a source from CelebrityDirtyLaundry claiming that after leaving the very successful CW show, the actress now realizes that there aren't many parts available for her, or at least not many projects with good enough roles. The report says that it seems Dobrev regrets leaving the show because there are too many actresses like her vying for the same roles.

The website also claims that:

"Nina Dobrev has been spending time with her friends dealing with the fact that she could not find a job as easily as she would have liked," the publication report

It is very unlikely that the actress will confirm these rumors. Nina Dobrev is scheduled to star in the upcoming movie "The Final Girls".
