There is no respite in store for fans of the anime television series "Tokyo Ghoul" which saw its first and second season airing in America last year, as rumors have now pointed towards the third season not being set in stone. Since the second season ended, there have been no indications about when the third would kick off.

Commenting on the possible arrival of the third season, Crossmap states that many are still smarting over the fact that the second season of the show was extremely different from events that were featured in the magna. Importantly, the second season of the show was titled "Tokyo Ghoul √A" and drafts from it were showcased on sites on the Internet which led to more controversy being created. The drafts for the story indicated that the changes that were featured in the second season of the show were no well thought through.

With a fair bit of controversy now surrounding the plot in the show and how it will proceed into the upcoming third season, it is thought that more effort would be put into the anime series before the season starts. However, this does not mean that the upcoming season will be better than the second one. Fans have even started petitioning that the third season be handed over to Madhouse Productions as they feel that they will do a better job with the anime series.

However, this does not mean there has been no news about the show. An OVA of "Tokyo Ghoul: Jack," which is a prequel spinoff, was greenlit and it has become the most recent offering from the show. Also, last year there was news that the franchise surrounding the show was being broadened to include a stage play that would take place in the Japanese cities of Tokyo and Kyoto. This means that fans are going to have a lot upcoming and can keep themselves engrossed before the third season comes out.
