'Vikings' season 4 episode 19 news, updates, spoilers: Ragnar's sons continue battle against Kingdom of Northumbria
The battle between the Vikings and the Kingdom of Northumbria continues in "Vikings" season 4 episode 19 titled "On the Eve."

In the upcoming episode of "Vikings," viewers will see where the battle will lead to. According to a synopsis of the episode, the Viking army will triumph. They will be able to destroy the English countryside, and they will advance. Although Northumbria is up for war, King Ecbert (Linus Roache) and Prince Aethelwulf (Moe Dunford) will only be concerned about defending their territories.
It is to be noted that King Ecbert was responsible for the death of Ragnar (Travis Fimmel). Both leaders had high esteem for each other. And before Ecbert agreed to Ragnar's plan of killing him, both had concocted a scheme, wherein his body would be delivered to King Aelle (Ivar Kaye), blaming him for his death. His son would eventually want to avenge his death, and would therefore seek war. Initially, Ecbert and Ragnar had agreed that Wessex, King Ecbert's kingdom, will not harmed. And in turn, the Englishmen would spare Ivar (Alex Hogh Andersen).
In "On the Eve," fans will find out what Ragnar's sons intend to do. And if the reports are true, then the brothers won't be attacking King Ecbert anytime soon. It seems like Ivar the Boneless and his brothers will proceed to King Alle before paying Ecbert a visit in Wessex.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly," show creator Michael Hirst talked about what fans should expect from the last two episodes of the season. Although Ragnar is dead, he lives on "in the minds of his sons," Hirst revealed. And that will be the core foundation of an indomitable army.
"And it's behind the build-up of the great army, which I have to tell you, has got such an amazing payoff in episodes 19 and 20. It's just astonishing," Hirst added.
"Vikings" season 4 episode 19 titled "On the Eve" airs this Wednesday, Jan. 25, at 9 p.m. on History.
