'Vikings' Season Three Will include raid on Paris

History's breakout series 'Vikings' is set to return for its third season and it promises even more carnage than ever before. The historical drama follows lead Viking Ragnar Lothbrok, played by Travis Fimmel, as he leads his people on a raid on the city of Paris.
In a Comic-Con interview with SheKnows, series creator Michael Hirst shared his excitement on showcasing France during the dark ages of its history. "People are not going to expect what they find. The court in Paris will be unlike anything you've ever seen and I'm dying even for French people to see this and say, 'That's not Paris!'" he said.
Fimmel, on the other hand, is just happy to return to the core of the Viking experience. "We go back to the raiding thing this year instead of all the dramas in Kattegat," he explained.
This time, however, they will face seemingly insurmountable odds in their quest to claim Paris. An excerpt from the official logline, as reported by TVLine, states "Rumored to be impenetrable to outside forces, Ragnar and his band of Norsemen must come together to break down its walls and cement the Vikings legend in history."
Series leads Travis Fimmel and Katheryn Winnick return in their roles as Ragnar and Lagertha, though this time they find themselves on different paths. After separating from her husband, the shieldmaiden Lagertha rises to become an Earl and now seeks out adventures of her own. Ragnar will once again be accompanied by his brother Rollo (Clive Standen), and his son Bjorn (Alexander Ludwig). New characters joining the cast for this season include Harbard (Kevin Durand), Kalf (Ben Robson), Emperor Charles of France (Lothaire Bluteau), and Princess Gisla (Morgane Polanski).
'Vikings' Season Three premieres February 19 on the History channel. The new season will run for ten episodes, as it did for the first two seasons.
