'Wayward Pines' episode 8 spoilers: Ben blames bomb explosion on dad, Ethan's backstory explained

(FOX)

"Wayward Pines" continues to draw viewers into the mysteries surrounding the creepy Idaho town that is now left with the aftermath of an explosion. Last week, Ethan's son Ben and his girlfriend Amy became victims of a bomb planted by Kate and her group of insurgents. The former secret service agent was not able to stop the bomb and the episode ended with Ben lying unconscious on the ground. Did he survive?

According to TVGuide, Ben will survive the blast but Ethan will not really be able to celebrate his son's good fortune. Before Ethan can take hold of the good news, former hypnotherapist-turned-teacher Mrs. Fisher puts an idea into Ben's head that he must act as a mouthpiece to bring about change in the community as a survivor of a terrorist attack.

Ben, according to her, must speak out against the acts of violence by blaming his father on being too lenient on the insurgents and not stopping them when he had the chance. It looks like Mrs. Fisher is going to drive a wedge between father and son.

Ethan does not initially listen to Ben's words but after some time, it becomes abundantly clear to viewers of "Wayward Pines" that he carries the guilt of not saving his son in time. The current situation with Ben is reminiscent of an event in Ethan's past which will be explained to the audience. Ethan's backstory will finally be revealed.

Spoilers Guide also reports that sheriff Ethan will continue to find the people responsible for the explosion. Harold, on the other hand, opts out of the covert operation that he was planning with his partner Kate.

Nurse Pam does her bit by questioning surveillance engineers to find out if any workers were responsible for falsely reporting activities of any Wayward Pines residents.

Why is Mrs. Fisher creating a wall between Ethan and Ben? What's underneath plot 33? Find out the answers as "Wayward Pines" airs on Thursday, July 9 at 9 p.m. EST on Fox.
