'Wet Hot American Summer': being back on set 'felt great', says Christopher Meloni

To say that 2001's "Wet Hot American Summer" is one of the most interesting albeit polarizing films in recent history, is definitely an understatement. While the movie was panned by several critics, with the late Roger Ebert giving it one out of four stars, some reviews praised the film so much so that it was included in one of Entertainment Weekly's top ten movies of the year.
Because of the cult status of the film, it is unsurprising that the movie has now been adapted into a web television series which debuted on Netflix only a few days ago. The jury is still out on whether or not the show is as intriguing as the movie, however, the cast members of both the film and the adaptation have since shared their experiences about being involved in the iconic, "Wet Hot American Summer."
"Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp," which debuted five days ago last July 31, 2015, is a Netflix-produced comedy television series based on the movie of the same name. It details the events preceding the last day of camp which was also the main subject of the movie.
Christopher Meloni, famous for his role on "Law & Order" and "True Blood," has agreed to reprise his role as Gene in the "Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp" TV series. In a recent interview with Vulture, the actor gushed about his experience on set and expressed how enjoyable and nostalgic the production is.
"It felt great. David [Wain] and Michael [Showalter] always have a great set. A collaborative, fun, very productive set. And I hadn't seen these guys in five years, and I felt like we picked it right back up. It felt like coming home and visiting an old friend," he said.
Janeane Garofalo, who is famous for playing Beth in the franchise, expressed in an interview with Time, how happy she is that her former cast mates in both the show and the TV adaptation later found their well-deserved fame. She said:
"I think it's thrilling. It couldn't have happened to nicer and more deserving people. Bradley is a fantastic guy and an extremely talented guy and works really hard, as does Amy. Their work ethics are ridiculous."
