Wrestlemania 32 News: Roman Reigns Defeats Triple H, AJ Styles feud next?
Roman Reigns won the WWE heavyweight title over WWE COO Triple H as expected, regardless of the boos that were heard each time he went on the offensive at the AT&T Stadium.
Though that spear on Stephanie McMahon helped a bit, it seemed to have been enough to drown out the jeering fans who have been swayed by the social media rants against the Big Dog.
In the end, the boos were hardly heard, though there were some trying to overcome the loud cheers. The skeptics are expected to continue but the WWE will move on – with or without them.
It was a tough main event, especially following that suicidal 20-foot leap of Shane McMahon against the Undertaker. Nevertheless, the back-and-forth action between Triple H and Reigns was still something to remember.
And so the Reigns era has begun (once again) with the Big Dog taking on all comers. This was something he made clear at WWE Raw, inviting anyone who wanted a crack at the title which was somewhat similar to the John Cena Open Challenge.
The only difference here is Reigns' path to the dark side. It may not be evident but Reigns is obviously headed into that direction as speculated for months now, and the one who might see the lurking dark side is crowd-favorite AJ Styles who has finally been booked into a different feud outside Chris Jericho.
How will this turn out? That remains to be seen. But the point here is that unless Reigns is allowed to strut his stuff and implement some changes in character, his continued reliance on the WWE top brass will never determine if he is indeed fit to be the new face of the company.
The "Phenomenal One" is a perfect choice. He has been a hit with the fans since debuting at the WWE Royal Rumble and is someone who has been around to give Reigns a serious threat. But would that be enough to win him the title?
