'XCOM 2' Alien Hunters DLC release date May 12: New mission, weapon, armor, and enemies

Firaxis Games has announced that the arrival of Alien Hunters, the second DLC pack for "XCOM 2," will be on May 12.
The Alien Hunters DLC will introduce an exciting narrative-driven mission for players to accomplish. In this new campaign, players will also receive new weapons, armor, a "Hunter's Lodge" update to the Avenger's Armory, and three new "Ruler" alien units.
According to the game developer, players will have to combat these three new Rulers, which include the formidable Viper King. Once the narrative mission has been completed, these Rulers will show up at random during players' campaigns. Players will have to use a variety of strategies to defeat these Rulers, as each of them will have their own set of behaviors and tactics. If players find themselves unable to defeat the Rulers, they will just have to escape and reengage in battle at another time.
New one-of-a-kind weapons include the Bolt Caster, the Hunter's Axe, the ShadowKeeper pistol, and the Frost Bomb grenade. Since the weapons are prototypes, once a soldier has fallen, their weapons have to be carried to the Skyranger so that they would not be lost forever.
Players will also be able to unlock new armor in the Alien Hunters DLC. The new suits of armor are made from the corpse of a Ruler alien. As such, each suit of armor will give the wearer a unique set of tactical abilities. The armor can also strike fear into subordinate alien races.
Finally, the Alien Hunters DLC will also come with a compatibility patch, general bug fixes, single-player balancing, multiplayer rebalancing, and performance optimizations.
The "XCOM 2" Alien Hunters DLC will be available to purchase for $9.99. Meanwhile, it will be available at no extra cost for players who have already purchased the Reinforcements Pack.
"XCOM 2" is available to play for the Microsoft Windows, OS X, and Linux PCs.
