'Zoo' season 2 spoilers: Team searches for cure on animal mutation in episodes 1 and 2

(Zoo / Facebook)"Zoo" season 2 premieres on Tuesday, Jan. 28, at 9 p.m. on The CW.

The team of zoologists must rescue a DNA holder that could cure animal mutation in the upcoming back-to-back episode premiere, titled "The Day of the Beast" and "Caraquet," of the second season of the American drama "Zoo."

After the drastic change in violent animal behavior, the team tries to rescue Jamie and the leopard whose DNA is a potential answer in their search for cure of the animal mutation crisis. While they are at it, they also discover an unexpected mutation that could put the lives of one of their own in danger.

As a brand-new season starts, fans will also be witnessing new faces in the story. These include Josh Salatin as Logan who might possess some dangerous information from Jamie (Kristen Connolly). James Wolk, who returns as Jackson Oz, revealed to TV Line that viewers will be confused with Logan's loyalty — it's either he is with the team or against it.

Dariela (Alyssa Diaz) will also be introduced as a member of the military unit that learns the unusual and troubling progress of the animal mutation crisis.

Meanwhile, another face named Allison (Joanne Kelly) will be the Deputy Secretary of Defense who is very involved with the solution for animal crisis. Wolk also revealed that Allison is related to one of the other characters.

"My favorite part of television is characters, watching people interact," Wolk told TV Line at a CBS summer press event. "And this year we have three new great characters that are entirely different and add to the show."

For the rest of season 2, fans can expect an escalated danger as the animal mutation escalates to Phase 2. This results to the animals causing destruction in other buildings and will be responsible for the deadly environment that could make the world unlivable.

"Zoo" season 2 premieres on Tuesday, June 28, at 9 p.m. on CBS.
