ZTE officially announced the Nubia Z9 in China and the smartphone's specifications more or less match the earlier speculated features. The ZTE Nubia Z9 comes with a glass and alloy body measuring 147.38 x 68.34 x 8.94 mm / 5.8 x 2.6 x 0.35 inches. The new smartphone features a 5.2-inch, 2.5D screen with a resolution of 1080 x 1920, and a remarkably thin 0.8 mm / 0.031-inch bezel that has been designed to reflect the content on-screen so as to give the illusion of a bezeless appearance.

The ZTE Nubia Z9 is powered by the octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor, paired with an Adreno 420 GPU and 3GB/4GB RAM. Nubia's new smartphone comes with 32GB/64GB of internal storage, and packs a 2,900 mAh battery. The Nubia Z9 sports a 16-megapixel, 1/2.6" Sony IMX234 camera with f/2.0 aperture, optical stabilization, and 4K UHD video capture, along with an 8-megapixel Sony IMX179 sensor up front (f/2.4, 80° field of view).

The handset also has a dedicated AKM AK4961 Hi-Fi chip for higher quality sound. As speculated earlier, the Nubia Z9 comes with the company's Fringe Interactive Technology (FiT), which allows users to adjust the volume or brightness and switch active apps by just sliding one or two fingers along one or both edges of the device. ZTE has incorporated the TIO patented fingerprint technology in its latest flagship, possibly within the power and volume rocker to allow the fingerprint to be scanned at both the points.

Nubia Z9 will ship with Android 5.0 Lollipop pre-installed with ZTE's Nubia UI 3.0 on top of it. The phone will be available in three variants, the 32GB ( 3GB of RAM) one for $565, the 64GB ( 4GB of RAM) one for $645 and the most expensive 64GB ( 4GB of RAM) model with ZTE's fingerprint scanning technology for $726.
