Motorola has finally confirmed that Android L, or Android 5.0 Lollipop, has arrived for the second generation of Moto X and Moto G.

"Get ready for something sweet! AndroidTM 5.0, Lollipop is officially here for some of our Motorola devices!" Motorola's official blog said.

To be specific, the Motorola units that are receiving the tasty update are Moto X (2nd Gen.) Pure Edition, Moto G (2nd Gen.) US GSM and Moto G (2nd Gen.) Global GSM retail variants that are sold in the US.

The latest mobile operating system from Google brings a number of improvements including the "Material Design," "Downtime," and "interruption" settings.

Other notable enhancements are "Guest" mode that allows sharing with restricted access to the device's apps, new flashlight quick settings and battery saving capabilities.

Moto G is an average smartphone that is reasonably priced. It sports a 5-inch screen with 720 x 1280 resolution, 8 GB of internal storage, 1 GB RAM, 8 MP rear-facing camera and 2 MP front-facing camera.

On the other hand, the latest Motorola flagship, Moto X is said to be a fusion of fine performance and intricate style. This model runs Snapdragon 801 chipset, has at least 2 GB RAM, 13 MP rear-facing camera, 2 MP front-facing camera and a 5.2-inch AMOLED 1080p full HD display with 1280 x 1080 resolution.

The confirmation that Moto X will receive Android 5.0 Lollipop update came last August via a short "Yup" from Motorola's Punit Soni.
