'Attack on Titan' season 2 release date, plot spoilers: Krista plots to kill Eren

(Shingeki TV)"Attack on Titan" season 2 is rumored to premiere in 2017.

Rumors continue to plague the second season of "Attack on Titan." The Japanese anime series is set to return next year, but a recent speculation has got fans worried. It has been said that Krista and Eren will find themselves at odds with each other, with the former plotting to kill the latter.

Many fans have been wanting Eren and Krista to become more than just friends. The previous season teased a possible romance between the two, but it never amounted to anything. As previously reported, the new season could be just the place for such a romance.

However, recent reports point out that the second season may involve a plotline concerning the two characters, but it won't be what they had expected. Krista, who is a part of the Reiss family, will sign up for the military along with Eren. But the two of them will reportedly not meet eye-to-eye. Krista will then attempt to kill Eren. Thankfully, she decides not to go through with it, leaving room for a potential romance instead.

Apart from Krista and Eren, there is widespread talk that Mikasa could find herself in a romantic situation as well. Although some reports believe that it will be with Levi, others state that it will be with Armin. It remains to be seen whether it will be Levi or Armin, but there is also the possibility of a love triangle. The only way to find out at this point is to wait for the second season of the popular series.

While personal relationships may be explored in the upcoming season, there will undoubtedly be a lot of action as well, especially with the introduction of a smart Titan. This Titan shifter, whose human form is named Zeke, is unlike any other that they've encountered before. This beast-like Titan has the intelligence of a human even when he is in Titan form. This certainly spells out a challenge for the heroes.

"Attack on Titan" season 2 will premiere in 2017.
