Backstreet Boys news: Singer Nick Carter arrested
Nick Carter from the popular band of the '90s, Backstreet Boys, was arrested on Jan. 13 for one misdemeanor count of battery in Key West, Florida.
CNN reported that Carter and a friend appeared to be highly intoxicated, which prompted the bouncer of Hog's Breath Saloon to deny them any service. Carter then became agitated and aggressive towards him, a Key West Police Department incident. He allegedly sucker-punched the bouncer on their way out of the bar.
A.J. McLean had something to say about the arrest of his fellow Backstreet Boys bandmate. He said on The Kramer and Geena Morning Show, "[H]e went out, had a couple drinks and... unfortunately, went array. It does happen. He's human, and people make mistakes."
"I feel sorry for him," the 38-year-old singer added.
Carter's bail was set at $1,500 in the afternoon of Jan. 14, the Monroe County Sheriff's Office reported via CNN.
This is not the first time he got arrested, though. In 2002, he got into a fight in a Florida nightclub and refused to leave when a cop ordered him to do so. According to reports, he was able to avoid jail time by completing community service and paying a fine.
He also pled guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI) back in 2005. He was reportedly fined about $1,200 and was ordered to attend a three-month alcohol program.
In November 2015, Carter announced on a live taping of "Dancing with the Stars" that he is expecting his first child with his wife, Lauren Kitt, and revealed the gender on the show.
The couple told E! Online in a statement, "My wife and I are happy to personally announce that we are pregnant. It has been our dream to have a family together and we cannot wait to welcome our first child into the world."
