The upcoming episode of "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" will see Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg) meeting Jessica Day (Zooey Deschanel) from "New Girl" in an hour-long crossover special.

The synopsis for season 4 episode 4, titled "The Night Shift," reveals that Jake will have a hard time with his first case back at 99th Precinct. However, he will meet someone who will help him with the case — Jess from "New Girl." Jess is in New York with her friends because Schmidt (Max Greenfield) is heading back to his high school to be honored. And while Jess goes to fetch some soup from his favorite deli, she encounters Jake. This leads him to ask Jess for help in catching a suspect.

Meanwhile, Rosa (Stephanie Beatriz) keeps taking long breaks, which starts to puzzle Amy (Melissa Fumero) and results in her finding out why. On the other hand, Holt (Andre Braugher) will try to look for ways to amp up office morale.

A promo trailer for the new episode has also been released. It teases Jake's encounter with Jess as he stops her on the road. He then takes over her car and drives them both into a newspaper stand while trying to avoid a large truck. Jess shares her experiences in New York with Jake, but, in true Peralta fashion, he misunderstands in a hilarious way. 

As reported by Entertainment Weekly, Damon Wayans Jr. will not be making an appearance. It can be remembered that Wayans Jr. played Coach on "New Girl" and guest starred as Steve on "Brooklyn Nine-Nine." 

"I think they're really funny and fun. And I love 'New Girl.' Always have. I am excited to hang with those guys," Samberg said of the headline-grabbing crossover special, or as Jess puts it, "crassover."

The two-episode crossover will begin with "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" on Oct. 11, Tuesday, at 8/7c and end with "New Girl" at 8:30/7:30c on Fox.
