Despite last season's success, the Charlotte Hornets are still seeking for consistency and their identity. A guy who could help them in this goal is center Brook Lopez who is currently with the Brooklyn Nets. 

The Hornets continue to emerge. In their previous campaign, they even made it back to the playoffs. Even though the Miami Heat eliminated them in the first round, it was an excellent outing for them. 

However, the progress the Hornets are having might be halted due to the roster moves that took place in the off-season.

Jeremy Lin (Brooklyn Nets), Al Jefferson (Indiana Pacers) and Courtney Lee (New York Knicks) were key pieces for Charlotte in the 2015-16 season but they all left in free agency. Replacing them are Roy Hibbert, Marco Belinelli and Ramon Sessions. These three are good players, but in the past few seasons, they have struggled. 

As of now, it is unknown how the Hornets will fare after these changes. However, if they have a bad start to the new season and are aiming to improve for them to continuously thrive, Lopez might be the answer. 

Charlotte has point guard Kemba Walker and forward Nicolas Batum to lead it. Unfortunately, almost all the important pieces in their supporting cast last season signed with different teams. Perhaps the only ones remaining are Marvin Williams and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist.

If the Hornets pursue and land Lopez, they will have another significant player who can be among the faces of the franchise joining Walker and Batum. They will be the squad's Big Three.

Lopez is the franchise star for the Nets, but recently, he was dragged to the rumor mill with the team failing to succeed in its last campaigns. 

A suggestion is for the Hornets to put in a package deal Kidd-Gilchrist, Spencer Hawes and a 2017 first-rounder (protected) for Lopez. 

This is something to ponder upon for the Nets since they are getting Lopez's replacement in Hawes, a scorer in Kidd-Gilchrist, plus a pick which is beneficial in the future.
