Cleveland Cavaliers trade rumors 2016: All roads lead to Philadelphia 76ers' Nerlens Noel

The Cleveland Cavaliers are expected by many to respond to the Golden State Warriors' signing of Kevin Durant, and perhaps the best option is the Philadelphia 76ers' Nerlens Noel, who has been linked to them in the past few weeks.

As of the moment, the Cavaliers are yet to counter the Warriors' huge free agency move since they are focused on signing their free agents first.

But when this is accomplished, the Cavs might engage in a trade to answer Golden State's addition of Durant.

A number of significant names were connected to the Cavaliers but none of them came up as often as Noel's.

These might be the reasons why Noel is seen as the greatest possibility for Cleveland. First of all, he is a center and the Cavs are believed to be seeking for a man in the middle who will boost their defense. The 22-year-old is known for his shot blocking ability and aside from this, he also improved his offense last season as he averaged 11.1 points per game.

Noel will also make Cleveland's center position younger which will benefit the team in the long run.

Second, trading for Noel is a much realistic goal for the the Cavaliers instead of them aiming at big names like Sacramento Kings All-Star DeMarcus Cousins.

Unlike other teams, the Sixers will not demand too much for Noel since he is not on that level yet. Along with this, Philly is really trying to deal him or Jahlil Okafor away as it tries to free up some space in their crowded front line.

The Cavs have not expressed any interest in trading for Noel. But as soon as they succeed in signing J.R. Smith, the organization might pursue the young center who will be a crucial addition especially since they are the defending champions.
