Coolpad Rogue: A $50 smartphone with 4G LTE and Android 5.1 Lollipop OS

Back then, when consumers thought of smartphones, they immediately thought about the high-end but expensive Apple iPhones or Samsung Galaxy S-series handsets. Now, in the smartphone market, there has been a shift with more and more companies releasing more budget-friendly but feature-laden handsets.
Currently, smartphones from Asus, Motorola or OnePlus have been popular mid-range choices and consumers would expect to spend anywhere from about $150 to $200. For consumers who have a lower budget, there wasn't anything that was really worth buying, until now.
Coolpad, the Chinese manufacturer, has teamed up with T-Mobile to officially release Rogue, a very affordable entry-level smartphone. The Coolpad Rogue is priced at just $50. Rogue owners won't get a lot of features from this phone; however, it is pretty decent given its low price.
The device features a 4.0-inch WVGA display with an 800 x 480 screen resolution and a 233 ppi pixel density. It is powered by a dual-core 1.1 GHz Snapdragon 200 series processor, an Adreno 304 GPU and has 1 GB of RAM. It also has 4 GB of internal memory, which is expandable for up to 32 GB via a microSD slot.
One of the smartphones best features is that it is 4G LTE and can also be used as a hotspot. Even with a $50 price tag, users can still experience the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS that the Coolpad Rogue is preloaded with.
Unfortunately, Coolpad had to cut corners in order to keep the smartphone's price down. It seems that the company scrimped on the camera specs. Rogue has a mere 2 MP rear camera and a 0.3 MP front-facing camera.
The Coolpad Rogue will be available online or in T-Mobile stores for just $49.99 by Sept. 30, Wednesday.
The Coolpad Rogue smartphone isn't laden with many features, however, given its price point, the device is perfect for first-time smartphone buyers or users. Parents can also purchase this pocket-friendly device for their older children or tweens, who are now learning more about responsibility.
