'Dark Souls 3' DLC release date announcement at Gamescom or Tokyo Game Show 2016? what to expect

(Twitter/DarkSoulsGame)"Dark Souls 3" DLC may be announced at Gamescom 2016 or Tokyo Game Show 2016.

Many fans are anticipating the release of the first "Dark Souls 3" DLC. And while a release period is set for the fall, players are wondering about the potential announcement of the new content.

According to reports, there are two possible events wherein Bandai Namco and FromSoftware could unveil the first of the two DLCs: Gamescom 2016 or Tokyo Game Show 2016.

It would make a lot of sense for Bandai Namco to announce the first DLC at Gamescom 2016. Based on historical data, this certainly works in their favor. After all, "Dark Souls 3" was announced at the 2015 Gamescom event. What's even more interesting is that the company already confirmed their presence at the said event. They are scheduled to unveil three games: "Dragon Ball: Xenoverse 2," "Tekken 7," and an unnamed project. Gamescom 2016 is set to take place in Cologne, Germany from Aug. 17 to Aug. 21.

On the other hand, Bandai Namco has also confirmed their attendance at the Tokyo Game Show 2016. Running from Sept. 15 to 18 in Tokyo, Japan, the event will reportedly showcase a plethora of Japanese games — a category that "Dark Souls 3" certainly falls under. According to reports, the DLC being announced at the Tokyo Game Show is far likelier because it would be a better place and platform.

It was previously reported that FromSoftware president Hidetaka Miyazaki teased what the upcoming DLC will contain. "Content-wise, it builds off of the previous titles and will be featuring a new area, enemies, gear, and story. The game story revolves around a new location which I believe will offer a different feel from 'Dark Souls 3,'" Miyazaki shared.

Apart from that, Miyazaki also considered what the future might hold for the franchise. Unfortunately, the current plan does not include a fourth installation and may stop at "Dark Souls 3." He did, however, say that he's not opposed to "go back to the series and make one more game before I retire."
