'Deadpool 2' rumors: Will Wolverine make surprise appearance in the sequel?

"Deadpool 2" may have some more surprises in store for viewers, and one of those may involve a certain member of the "X-Men."
In an interview with Cinema Blend, "Deadpool" writers and producers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick hinted that while nothing is set in stone at this point, fans should not completely rule out the possibility of Wolverine showing up in the sequel.
The odds of Wolverine appearing in the sequel are not believed to be particularly high at this point, mainly because the actor who plays the beloved anti-hero has said that he intends to retract his claws for good very soon.
Hugh Jackman has already indicated a desire to retire from playing Wolverine after the 2017 release of one last film featuring the character. It would seem, then, that unless "Deadpool 2" can somehow make it to theaters before that time, a cameo from him is unlikely, if not unrealistic.
Both Wolverine and Deadpool have had numerous interactions in the pages of Marvel comic books and translating that to the movie screen could be a real treat for fans. At the very least, it seems as though "Deadpool's" producers are interested in bringing Wolverine aboard.
During the aforementioned interview, Reese even jokingly said that they might even show up at Jackman's home in Australia equipped "with a rag with chloroform on it" to persuade the actor to join the sequel.
Still, few characters in the Marvel universe would be as seemingly "at home" in a "Deadpool" film as Wolverine. Should Jackman's character not be a part of the next film, fans can still look forward to seeing Cable in the sequel, although the actor who will be playing him has yet to be named.
With or without Wolverine, "Deadpool 2" still figures to be one film fans will be waiting for eagerly, although they may have to stay on standby for a while since no release date has thus far been announced.
