'Descendants of the Sun 2' rumors: Sequel without Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo

Fans of the South Korean global blockbuster series "Descendants of the Sun" have been clamoring for a sequel that would once again feature the on-screen partnership of the show's two lead stars, Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo. However, the latest news is that there may be, indeed, a sequel to it, sans the presence of the said stars, though.
According to reports, there are several claims saying that filming of "Descendants of the Sun 2" has already started, and the sequel will soon offer the fans the brand of entertainment that the first season had. However, the alleged upcoming sequel will, supposedly, focus on other major cast members of "Descendants of the Sun," specifically on the roles played by Seo Dae-young and Kim Ji-won.
Nonetheless, fans of Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo still have a reason to hope that "Descendants of the Sun 2" will continue the on-screen romance of the said stars. After all, at this point in time, stories claiming that the two will not be part of the sequel is nothing more than an unconfirmed piece of news and will remain as a rumor and speculation until it is officially confirmed.
From the looks of it, though, it seems that fans of Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo may need to extend their patience while anticipating the return of the two stars for the continuation of the saga of their roles in "Descendants of the Sun." According to reports, Song Joong Ki is set to shoot his part for another South Korean drama, "Battleship Island."
Reports claim that "Battleship Island" will tackle the fate of the Koreans in Hashima Island during World War II, wherein residents of the said island were engaged in forced labor during that era as they had to work as undersea coal miners against their will.
