Marshall Bruce Mathers III, known to the music scene as Eminem, has not released an album since "The Marhall Mathers LP 2" came out in 2013. Numerous rumors have been spreading online that 2016 is the year for Eminem's ninth studio album release. However, the Detroit rapper remains tight-lipped about it.

It was reported that Eminem has been busy in the studio since last year. However, the reason behind his tight schedule is most likely because of his work for the official soundtrack of the film "Southpaw," which stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Forest Whitaker and Rachel McAdams.

According to NME, Eminem's Shady Records got the gig to produce the OST for the said sports drama film, which was released last July 24. The carrier single from the album was titled "Phenomenal," written and produced by Eminem himself. The song peaked at the 47th spot of the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and 14th spot of the U.S. Billboard Hot R&B/ Hip-hop charts.

Although there is no official word from Eminem about his ninth studio album, the master rapper announced some good news to all of his fans on Friday, March 4. On his official Twitter handle, Eminem confirmed that he will be re-releasing his hit 1999 album, titled "The Slim Shady LP." He even attached a gif image of the cassette tape. However, he did not specify when the release date will be other than mentioning that it is "coming soon."

According to Billboard, "The Slim Shady LP" debuted at number two on the Billboard top 200 charts after its release on Feb. 23, 1999. The most popular track of the rapper's second album were "My Name Is," "Just Don't Give a F—," and "Guilty Conscience."

This album also earned him the Best Rap Album and Best Rap Solo Performance awards at the 42nd Grammy Awards. It was even included in Rolling Stone's list of 100 Best Albums in the 90s.
