Comcast division, Universal Studios, has announced a change of the 'Fast and Furious 7' release date from April 10, 2015 to April 3.

This is a potential sign of Hollywood attempts to extend the summer movie season to commence in April, rather than May.

Fast and Furious 4 debuted on April 3, 2009 and managed to set a record of $70.9 million on its opening weekend.

Fast and Furious 5 followed two years after on April 30, and it delivered another April record, with $86m during the opening weekend. Last year, Fast and Furious 6 opened with $118m over the Friday to Sunday Memorial Day weekend.

The new Fast and Furious 7 launch date will give more room for international play dates and worldwide release, and will kick-off the movie summer season of 2015 earlier than usual.

Fast and Furious 7's new release schedule will potentially make it not just a summer blockbuster outside the usual summer season, but land it among 2015's biggest films, which drops on the first weekend of April.

It will have four weeks to enjoy before "Avengers: Age of Ultron" premieres on May 1st. The summer movie season will continue from April all the way until August.

Walt Disney Pictures did the same thing with "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," which opened on April 4, 2014, and managed a $95 million month record.

As of July 10, the superhero film has earned $256 million, becoming this year's biggest-grossing movie in the US, even more so than "The LEGO Movie" which had earned $256 million after its February release date.

The Fast and Furious 7 cast will star Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Michelle Rodriguez, Dwayne Johnson, Jordana Brewster, Chris Bridges, Lucas Black, Elsa Pataky and a many more.
