'Friday the 13th' game news: ESRB rating is between M and AO

(Twitter/Friday the 13th Game)"Friday the 13th" game will be released in early 2017, but the rating is still unknown.

In November, "Friday the 13th" game co-creator Wes Keltner took to his social media account to share a recent convo with the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB). He said that discussion is still ongoing about the game, which will be rated between M and AO.

On Twitter he posted, "ESRB convo went well. We're between M and AO. Discussion on-going. Can't talk specifics at this time, but we're fighting for you guys." M stands for Mature, which means the content is for 17 and up as it may contain intense violence, blood and gore, sexual content, and/or strong language.

On the other hand, AO stands for Adults Only, which means content is suitable for 18 and up as it may have prolonged scenes of intense violence, graphic sexual content, and/or gambling with real currency.

Game Revolution reached out to Keltner for further information, but the co-creator is not allowed to comment on the exact reasons. It does not come as a surprise to many, however, because the movie by which the game is based upon contains nudity and violence. However, he did say they will not release the game with AO rating as games considered as such cannot be released on consoles.

In the third-person horror game, players can choose to be a teen counselor or the killer itself, Jason Voorhees. As a Camp Crystal Lake teen counselor, the player will do everything to escape and survive as the ruthless killer does everything to track you down as well.

As Jason, the player will be able to kill the preys in various ways, some of which are new and the others familiar. Jason may come in the form of his different looks in the movies, while there are two designs created solely for the game.

"Friday the 13th" game will be released in early 2017 with the exact date expected to be announced soon.
