Alex (Justin Chambers) may be kissing his freedom goodbye in the next episode of "Grey's Anatomy." Will he really end up in jail?

As per recent spoilers, Alex's chances of being imprisoned for assaulting Andrew (Giacomo Gianniotti) are big. Those behind the movement to get him out of Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital are determined to make him pay for what he did. Bailey (Chandra Wilson) had a tough time trying to defend him from the board, but she ended up losing. The only way for Alex to escape the situation is to get Jo (Camilla Luddington) to testify for him. His girlfriend, however, is in a tight spot since standing up for Alex means putting herself in danger.

Jo finally admitted to Alex that she was married to an abusive husband. That was the reason why she could not accept his marriage proposal. Alex could not believe she lied to him for so long. Still, he needs her support in the case against him. Jo will have to decide carefully if she will testify for Alex. If she does, her husband may learn about her whereabouts. She has been running away from his all this time. Jo also fears that the man will target Alex. It is obvious that she is terrified about what will happen once her husband finds out where she is.

Meanwhile, the fans want to know how Owen (Kevin McKidd) will react to Amelia's (Caterina Scorsone) letter. She decided to leave him last episode. The two frequently argued about having children. Owen wanted to start a family right away, but Amelia was not prepared. She wrote him a letter and then hightailed it out of town.

On a different note, the promo for the January episode reveals that the ABC's TGIT team is back. Shondaland is complete once again with "Scandal" making a comeback with a new installment.

"Grey's Anatomy" season 13 will be back on Jan. 19, 2017 at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
